Before & After Care
Waxing
-
Your hair should be at least ¼ inch in length or 3 weeks after a shave and 4 weeks after a wax.
Exfoliate your skin prior to waxing. This allows easier removal of the hair follicles, ensuring smoother results.
You may take a Tylenol 30-45 minutes prior to waxing to help minimize any discomfort.
Avoid stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol immediately before waxing as they can make your skin more sensitive.
Avoid heat-related activities like hot yoga, steam rooms and tanning before waxing.
Do not wax if you are on any skin-sensitive medications that may cause the skin to lift (i.e. Accutane or Retin-A).
-
Experiencing some redness after waxing is normal and will usually subside within 24-48 hours. Depending on your hair type and or if it’s your first time waxing, you may experience more irritation than usual.
Wearing loose, comfortable clothing will help minimize skin irritation.
Avoid heat-related activities (ie. hot yoga, steam rooms, tanning), excessive exercise/sweating, swimming in chlorinated pools the same day as your wax.
Avoid shaving and or trimming between your waxing appointments.
Stay consistent with your waxing schedule ( every 4-5 weeks).
-
It’s important to start exfoliating 2 days after your wax and continue to do so every day after.
Exfoliating your skin helps with dead skin buildup that can block your pores. Dry brush exfoliation at least 3 to 4 times a week is important, or exfoliating with an exfoliating mitt with a non-abrasive cleanser such as our I Love My Muff wash.
For ingrown and red bumps, you can use our PFB Vanish Chromobright and/or PFB Vanish Liquid Luffa.
Spray Tanning
-
Wear loose-fitting, dark-coloured clothing to your appointment.
If you have a special event coming up, make sure to book your tan at least 2 days before.
Before your appointment, exfoliate to remove dead skin cells.
Any hair removal (waxing, shaving, sugaring, etc.) should be done 24 hours before your appointment.
Avoid using any lotion or moisturizers prior to your appointment.
-
Wear loose-fitting, dark-coloured clothing to go home.
Avoid touching your skin and getting wet immediately following your appointment.
Do not exfoliate for at least 10 days following your appointment to prolong the life of your tan.
Be sure to moisturize twice a day, and apply SPF regularly.
Avoid swimming pools and hot tubs for extended periods of time.
Avoid skin care products with alcohol, witch hazel, etc.

Skin Care
-
PROS:
It painlessly exfoliates the stratum corneum to stimulate cellular turnover with little to no downtime.
It is a great option for clients with sensitive skin and pregnant women who are looking for a deeper exfoliation without concerns that can come with chemical exfoliations.
It removes the vellus hair (Peach fuzz) for a smother appearance to the skin.
It can be performed prior to treatments like facials, laser, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels for better product penetration.
It can be performed frequently.
It helps makeup go on smoother and more evenly.
It can help significantly lighten post inflammatory scars from past acne.
It does not make the hair grow back thicker and darker.
It can be safely used in combination with other exfoliation techniques to get a deeper result.
You can visibly see the hair and skin cells removed from the face.
CONS:
The results might not be as long-lasting as other hair-removal methods, such as waxing, as the hair is not removed from the root.
Results will differ depending on a client’s individual hair-growth cycle.
Not everyone is a candidate. Clients with active and cystic acne should avoid this type of hair removal, as it can cause further irritation. Also, it is contraindicated for clients with hirsutism, a condition of excessive male-pattern hair growth in women.
